So it was too good to be true: What’s up with Forever Chemicals?

Alas, we’ve built pretty efficient communities and households.

But it comes at a price.

The products we use, day-to-day, are made with toxic fluoridated chemicals, called PFAS. They never break down and have been linked to cancer and reproductive and immune system diseases.

Gosh, if only there were some kind of guide for us to navigate these pesky Forever Chemicals … Oh, here we go: The experts at EGW say that PFAS chemicals are often listed on product labels, so you should be wary of any ingredient with “fluoro” in the name.

Also, let’s think before we apply, spray or rub.

Check whether any of these ingredients are in your products: Mineral oil/petroleum may clog pores and contain possible contaminants; Sulfates can be skin irritants; Parabens are potential hormone disruptors; as well as Phthalates. Synthetic Fragrance are possible allergens, and may contain phthalates Oxybenzone, a hormone disruptor and damages coral reefs. Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) may contain potential impurities. Formaldehyde can release carcinogens, skin irritants, allergens and talc is a possible carcinogen. Retinyl Palmitate may react on skin when exposed to the sun. Eek.

Think before we apply, spray or rub, my friends
